the video flopped but still booked 2 Realtor appointments

why views don't matter

Was preparing for a regularly scheduled check-in call with a client.

I was nervous.

The latest videos we posted had less than 250 views (something I see a lot these days with mortgage content)

When the Zoom call finally connected he seemed…happy?

“I booked two appointments from Instagram last week”

I think I blacked out because I asked him to repeat that.

“Yeah these Realtors kept liking my posts so I sent some DM’s thanking them. Two of them responded and agreed to meet with me to see how we can help each other.”

Turns out the videos with low views still had a couple of likes from local Realtors.

These Realtors also liked previous posts so it was clear our content, even though not seen by a lot of people, was getting in front of the RIGHT people.

Here are the key takeaways:

  • Short-form platforms are for making referral partner connections, specifically Instagram for attracting Realtor partners.

  • Generic mortgage or home-buying content on short-form platforms is not resonating with Realtors or buyers right now because demand is severely low at the moment.

  • Creating content that is market-specific and data-driven establishes you as a reliable and knowledgeable authority that Realtors want to work with (not the other way around).

  • You don’t need to go viral do cringy trends to get business with social media.

  • Posting consistently keeps you top of mind.

  • Always look at who is engaging with your content and reach out to the ones you want to work with. The quality of an audience is much more important than quantity.

Now go create.

P.S - If you want me to spill the beans on the exact video we made and the DM script my client sent out, just reply to this email “BEANS” and I’ll share it with you. My client is okay to share with those interested but not to broadcast it to the entire world.
